Le Cordon Bleu Visits Dubai
Le Cordon Bleu has visited Dubai following an invitation to judge the final of the LG Home Chef Championship 2012 – Middle East and Africa Regional Masters. The concluding event saw 12 finalists compete for the chance to visit Le Cordon Bleu Paris to train and experience the transfer of knowledge and skills from our classically trained master chefs to students.
The 2012 championship - held at the 5 star Raffles Hotel - was won by South African pair Donovan van Rooyen and Hayley van Rooyen, who created lamb potjie with homemade bread for their winning dish. Iranian pair Zahra Nasri Majd and Mohammad Javad Firouz Jani placed second with their stuffed lamb fillet dish, followed by Sheelu Tharain John from the United Arab Emirates who came third with her dish of grilled chicken, pan fried potatoes and vegetables.
All finalists had 90 minutes to prepare and create their chosen recipe before a panel of five judges chose a winner. The judging panel comprised of Le Cordon Bleu London’s Lucy Thomas, Egyptian celebrity chef Osama El Sayad, Ms. Kwang-Hwa Kim (principal research engineer, cooking R&D department LG), Mr Hee-Jong Park (vice president, head of cooking and cleaning marketing division, LG) and Mr Gissur Gudmundsson, president of the World Association of Chefs Society (WACS) .
Le Cordon Bleu is a proud member of WACS, a network of chefs associations which represents over 10 million professional chefs worldwide.
